Tree killing

18 12 2006

We spent Sunday afternoon (ok, only about an hour) hunting some elusive prey.

First, we had to reconnoiter the area for suitable hunting grounds.  Then, after getting dropped off by wagon in their mating area, we began our stalking.

We walked, quietly since the prey is very skittish this time of year, up and down the field, doing a hard taget search for the ideal prey, looking for the kind that’s about nine feet tall…

not too fat…

and a nice shade of green.

Once we had targeted the perfect specimen, we zeroed in, and took it down.

This is the picture of the prey, after some dressing up…

Don’t even ask me what kind of tree it is.  I’m just the hired labor, whose only job is to cut the sucka down, set it up in the stand, and put the lights on.

This pic is with only the lights on.  We’re planning to put the ornaments on today.  Maybe, if you’re lucky, I’ll post a pic of the finished product.

Big Plans

16 12 2006

Diane and I had BIG plans for today.  We were gonna make breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast) and then hit the day hard, including cleaning Zach’s bedroom (he returns from Marine bootcamp Monday), planting the lilac bushes and tulip bulbs before the ground freezes, and go get a Christmas tree.

That was the plan.

When I rolled outta bed at 730am, I asked Diane “Are we gonna make breakfast now or wait ’til Drew wakes up?”   Her response:  “Eh, I’m feeling lazy.  Lets just have breafast for dinner.”  We then proceeded to lay around and watch tv all day.  In fact, I haven’t left the building all day.

I don’t know if this constitutes a good day or not.  But, I’ll take it.

Pre-vacation blog extra

24 07 2006

We’re headed to Traverse City today for a week of camping. And as all you parents out there know, we’ve spent the last few days preparing and packing. I thought vacations were supposed to be relaxing.

During the mayhem and chaos of packing, we came inside to see this…

Now, it’s not like we don’t have water set out for the cats and dogs. And, aren’t cats supposed to NOT like the water.

This cat, however, is always playing in the water. But seeing him drinking out of the faucet is a new one. Oranges is one strange cat.

Speaking of strange cats, here’s a few more...

Drew and Zach with some AM goofery.

Now to finish packing the contents of a house into a popup camper.

Wish me luck.

Vacation. Sweet Vacation!!!

21 07 2006

I’m just over two hours from finishing the last shift before a week of NOT WORKING!!!

Zach is in town from Vegas for the next month, and next week we’re all going camping up north.

So, needless to say, I won’t be blogging, thinking about blogging, or even thinking if at all possible.

Oh, and I’ll need the week, because the week I get back is the beginning of Buick Open week. Or as we like to call in, unorganized chaos.

Maybe I can just not come back. Think they’ll miss me? Nah, I didn’t think so, either.

May the Schwartz be with you.

Viva Las Vegas!!!

15 05 2006

Las Vegas, here we come!!!

Diane, Drew and I, as well as Diane’s parents, are flying out to Vegas to attend Zach’s ROTC graduation. And we’re looking forward to the trip.

After a couple of weeks of planning, booking, packing, and preparing, we need the six days in Sin City to relax. And it’ll be good to visit with Zach, especially since he’ll be joining the Marines soon.

so, for the next week and a half I won’t be updating the blog. “Well, how will notice the difference, you’re a bit slow in updating.” True, but now I have an excuse.

So, if you’ll excuse me, I have some bets to make.

ARRGGGHHHHHH!!!

9 05 2006

Let me begin by giving you some good news…

MY CAMERA IS BACK!!! Sony did it’s duty and fixed my dead companion, and it now safely ensconced in my hands. Live is good.

Or is it?

Diane, Drew and I are just one week from heading to Vegas to see Zach graduate. “That’s good news, isn’t it?” you ask. Well, on face value, sure. But Diane is soooooo stressed about all the things that have to happen between now and then that we’re all going slightly crazy. We’re gonna need the vacation to recover from preparing for the vacation.

December 6th, 2005. A few days since I first attempted to begin this blog. Let’s try again.

A month ago was the auto accident, and things have changed in our lives. Since that idiot ran the red, we’ve been dealing with the injuries. Granted, the injuries are relative minor, but they weren’t things we wanted to deal with.

Drew has a doctor’s appointment today, and I’m hoping the x-rays will show that things are healing well. He’s getting tired of wearing the neck brace, and I don’t really blame him.

Diane had a doctor’s appointment Friday, and he’s thinking she may have gotten a head injury that hasn’t been diagnosed before. As if the broken collar bone wasn’t enough.

I’m the luckiest. Just the concussion (leaving me with no memory of the accident) and the bashed knee, which has mostly healed (just the barometer I’m guessin I’ll have from now on…great).

I’m not anticipating the blog being this down…usually it’ll be about work (read:complaining!!!). I guess we’ll see how it goes.
